Indonesia National Public Holidays Year 2010 Calendar

Indonesian Government has set a national holiday and common leave for the year 2010 as many as 17 days, consisting of 14 national holidays (four of which fall on Saturday or Sunday), and a maximum of 3 days of common leaves. This early announcement of national holidays, religious, and common, among others, is to prevent employees skipping work taking advantage of the holidays.
This decree is stipulated in the Joint Decree (Surat Keputusan Bersama – SKB) which was signed by Minister of State for Administrative Reform, Minister of Religious Affairs, and Minister of Manpower and Transmigration. “It is also intended for staff / employees leave planning, so that operational activities of the office / unit organization can run well,” said Minister Taufiq Effendi, in Jakarta, Friday (7 / 8).
Additionally, the policy is also intended to improve employee discipline. In this case, the leadership of the organization unit can take disciplinary action to employees who violate the regulation.
Based on the SKB, national holidays consist of 3 categories. The first category of the National Memorial Day, like New Year’s Day (January 1) and Independence Commemoration (August 17). While for the category of religious holidays for worship, including Idul Fitri, Idul Adha, Christmas, Easter, Vesak, and Lunar New Year. In addition, religious memorial holiday, such as 1 Muharram, Birthday of Prophet Muhammad, and Isrya-Mi `raj.
As for the common leaves, set on September 9 (Thursday) before the Eid vacation, and 13 September (Monday), after the Eid vacation, and on Friday December 24, which is a common leave before Christmas. These common leaves does not add to the already established public holidays, as it will be used offsetting employees annual leaves.
For government agencies that still impose a six-day work week, whereby Friday is a national holiday or a common leave, the management of the institution may set Saturday as a holiday. “As a substitute, increasing the effective working hours on other days should be taken into account, so the effective working hours of 37.5 hours per week can be fulfilled,” said the Minister.
For the unit in charge of direct service to the community and are always ready for 24 hours, then the leader of this organizational unit shall manage the implementation of public holidays and leave with a working time arrangements (time shifting) or task force, so that public service still running well.
Taking into account the objective, conditions and after studying the various elements of related agencies, religious organizations, and private parties, then in 2010 there should be no additional holidays other than public holidays and common leaves as determined in the SKB.
