Canada 2011 Public Holidays
In Canada, public holidays are legislated at the national, provincial and territorial levels. Many of these holidays are observed nationwide, but each province and territory does have its own holidays as well.

While major Christian holidays such as Christmas and Good Friday are officially observed, other religious holidays are widely accepted as well (see Multiculturalism). For example, some school children and employees take days off for Jewish holidays, Muslim holidays, or Eastern Orthodox observances according to the Julian calendar.

Good laugh here. Someone thinks Canada is completely covered in Snow at New Years. I live in Vancouver, and we might get a day or two of snow a year. I think whoever wrote this statement missed out on getting his/her facts before writing.

NOTE – Good Friday is considered to be the day Christians observe the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Many provinces do not observe Easter Monday as a holiday but all recognize Good Friday as the official religious Easter holiday.
