New Year Festival in Japan

At the New Year’s Eve, family always gathers together while sharing stories or watching Television in their living room. Most of TV stations usually broadcast some interesting shows, such as music awards or good movies. Before 12pm, people in Japan eats a kind of Japanese noodle named Toshikoshiudon. When the New Year comes, some people wear Kimono and eat Japanese traditional food. There is a tradition in Japan to give the kids money during the New Year Events. Some people also go to the temple to pray for a better year, and say “Happy New Year” in Japanese language to every people they meet.

The kids usually play kites or badminton in the field during the New Year events. The rule of badminton game played by the kids in Japan during New Year is quite different with the common rule. There is a tradition that the one who fails to return the cock should be stroke with black ink. That’s why the one who lose the game usually comes home with black face. People in Japan also have a tradition of sending letter to their friends or family in New Year. The letter was completed the phrase of hope that the next year will be a good year for them.

It is fun to spend the New Year holiday in Japan. However, when you plan to visit Japan during the New Year holiday, make sure that you’ve booked the hotels earlier otherwise you won’t get any room to stay in any hotel. The same thing goes for the busses and trains, and make sure that you’ve booked them earlier. All of the public transportation is undoubtedly crowded, and it will be very hard to let yourself in. A good preparation before traveling will guarantee your comfort during the trip.
